These novel product tankers are not only equipped with a low pressure gas dual fuel 2-stroke main engine but also with the direct-drive PM shaft generator solution provided by WE Tech. The direct-drive permanent magnet shaft generator is connected directly to the propeller shaft, so no step-up gearing is required.

Operating modes are economic power generation throughout the main engines full speed range. A PTI Take Me Home mode is also initiated after the main engine is disconnected from the propeller shaft. In this way, the vessels are able to reach maneuvering speed from auxiliary generator power and auxiliary propulsion drive (APD) mode is achieved.
